Our ADI part 2 - DRIVING Course

After passing your theory test we will take that knowledge and put it into practice on our ADI Part 2 Driving Course. We understand that your interest in becoming a Driving Instructor is important to you; we also understand that the majority of drivers who have passed their driving test do not undergo or receive any additional driver training. So this course is designed to start off by looking at your current level of driving and strip out the bad habits that we all have before this type of training. We will then train you to drive to the highest level whilst utilising your vast driving experience and nurturing your natural driver confidence.

We will prepare you for this exam in our training vehicles, guided by our highly skilled trainers. The amount and frequency of training required varies from person to person and this will be tailored to you as an individual. We understand that you may have developed bad habits over the years, but we also understand that you have a wealth of experience on which to build. Your training sessions will be designed to develop your driving skills to make you an even better driver and we are confident that as a side effect you will find driving more pleasurable than ever. After all, we all enjoy doing something that we're good at. This training is flexible and may be taken at a pace suited to your needs. Of course we will work around your existing commitments.

What is the ADI Test of driving ability like?

The test of driving ability is an advanced driving test and a very high standard of competence is required. You must show that you have a thorough knowledge of the principles of good driving and road safety and that you can apply them. You must satisfy the examiner on all or any of the following subjects:

expert handling of the controls
use of correct road procedure
anticipation of the actions of other road users and the taking of appropriate action
sound judgment of distance, speed and timing
consideration for the convenience and safety of other road users

The routes used for the test will include roads which may carry heavy and/or fast moving traffic; they will also cover a range of road and traffic conditions, including urban and rural conditions.

In order to pass this test you must make no more than 6 minor driver faults. Any more than this or you make a serious or dangerous fault will result in failure. Candidates are limited to 3 attempts at this test in any 2 year period. Failing 3 times will result in you having to start the whole process again, only after your theory runs out. The DSA pass rate for this test is 45%. After attending this course we are confident you will be one of our 86% who pass first time.
